Welcome to mathematics educators in the Toronto area. Now in its 31st year, the Toronto Educators Association for Mathematics (TEAMS) is a Toronto chapter of the Ontario Association for Mathematics Education (OAME). Officially, TEAMS serves mathematics educators in the Toronto Catholic District School Board, University of Toronto and George Brown College, and the central and west parts of the Toronto District School Board. However, educators are free to choose the OAME chapter to which they belong.

Our organization promotes mathematics education by organizing annual conferences for mathematics educators, holding TEAMS Math Olympics for Grade 7 and 8 students, communicating with members on issues in mathematics education, and providing resources to teachers of mathematics in all grades.

Along with the NOMA chapter, TEAMS co-hosted the  OAME2023 annual mathematics conference in April. The theme was “Empowering Me,” and featured keynote speakers including Dan Finkel, of MathforLove.com; Deborah Ball, Professor , School of Education, University of Michigan; and Rochelle Gutierrez,  Professor , University of Illinois.

We encourage educators to attend the annual OAME conference every spring. It is an exciting opportunity to attend some outstanding professional development workshops, and to network with other mathematics educators from across Canada. The OAME 2024 annual conference will take place from May 2 – 4, 2024 at St. Lawrence College in Kingston.

Members and non-members alike are welcome to take part in our activities. Members receive a discount at all of our local conferences, a discount at OAME conferences, email newsletters from TEAMS and OAME, and a quarterly magazine from OAME. Consider joining TEAMS and benefit from all we have to offer.
